One Life to Life alum Josh Kelly hired for mystery role on General Hospital

Former One Life to Live actor Josh Kelly has been hired for a contract role on General Hospital. He will debut by the end of the month, but exactly who he will be playing is a bit of a mystery.

One Life to Live and UnReal alum Josh Kelly is joining the cast of General Hospital later this month in an undisclosed contract role.

According to Deadline, Kelly's unnamed character "will greatly affect the lives of Sam, Dante, and Britt."

As you might expect, the vague character description has fans taking to social media with all sorts of theories. The references of who Kelly's character will interact with has some fans thinking he might be playing Jason Morgan. The role was vacated last year when Steve Burton was released from GH for not adhering to ABC's vaccine policy. Burton has since been hired to appear on Peacock's Days of our Lives spinoff, Beyond Salem. It should be noted -- not that soaps have ever been a genre to not fiddle with the rules of time and logic -- that Kelly is a decade younger than Burton and Cameron Mathison, who plays Jason's twin brother Drew.

Another possible angle? In Soap Central's The Scoop previews for General Hospital, there is mention that Dante's past will be explored. Some fans are wondering if Kelly's character will be part of that past.

Kelly is best-known to daytime viewers for his role as Cutter Wentworth on ABC's One Life to Live. Kelly debuted on OLTL in December 2010 and remained with the show through December 2011. The character then popped up on the online reboot in 2013.

For primetime viewers, Kelly is recognized for the role of Jeremy Carter on the reality show-skewering drama UnReal. He has also been featured in the Transformers movie series.

Though a first airdate has not been announced, Kelly will make his first on-screen appearance by the end of May.
